Eleanor is an American outside hitter who most recently competed with the Grand Rapids Rise in the US's Pro Volleyball Federation to help them close out the 2025 season. During the full 2024–2025 season Eleanor played for SC Potsdam in Germany where she played a key role in leading the team to a Bronze Medal finish in the CEV Challenge Cup. The season prior (2023–2024), she played in Germany’s top league with VfB Suhl, following her professional debut in Puerto Rico with Leonas de Ponce in the spring of 2023.
Holthaus had a standout collegiate career at Iowa State University, where she was named the 2022 AVCA Midwest Region Player of the Year and earned AVCA All-American honors. She was a four-time AVCA Midwest All-Region selection (2019–2022) and a four-time All-Big 12 First Team honoree, establishing herself as one of the premier outside hitters in the NCAA during her time with the Cyclones.
