Athletes Abroad client Wilma Rivera has been named the Rookie and Setter of the Year in the Puerto Rican LVSF. In her debut season Wilma made a mark on the LVSF and led her team, Gigantes De Carolinas, to a fourth place finish in the league. Wilma racked up 453 assists, 336 digs, and 37 blocks on the season. With her powerful jump topspin serve Wilma added 29 service aces. In addition to Rookie and Setter of the Year honors Wilma was named to the 2019 LVSF All-Star Team.
After a successful rookie season Wilma is gearing up for her first summer with the Puerto Rican National team. Wilma made her debut with the National team in January 2019. The team will be competing in the Norceca Championships, the Pan-American games, and Olympic Qualifications. The Puerto Rico Women’s National team was a contender at the Rio Olympics in 2016.
